12u AllStars

The East Granby/Granby 12u All Stars finished their season with a 2-2 record and were unable to advance to the Double Elimination round.   However, this team represented their towns with pride.

They started off their pool play with a comeback victory against a tough Canton team 7-6, Joe Roberts with the go ahead double in the bottom of the 4th, scoring Jacob Guilmartin and Trey Santasiere.  Trey started on the mound and Cameron Freeman came in to get the save.

Next they faced two-time defending District 6 champion Simsbury, Alec "Quags" Quagliaroli started on the mound for the team.  Jacob Guilmartin, 2 hits (a single and a double) and Adrian Bento, with a double down the right field line sparked the offense.  Kyle Anthony put an end to Simsbury's aggressive base running by throwing a runner out at home trying to score on a single from second base.  However, they were unable to pull out the victory and lost 6-3.

We then ran into a tough Burlington team, who hit the ball well and suffered a tough loss 14-2.   Joe Roberts started on the mound for East Granby/Granby.   Cameron Freeman, Trey Santasiere and Kyle Anthony led the offense, each providing hits.

These boys came right back the next night and playing their 3rd game in 4 days, beat the Torrington team, 9-2 behind great pitching from starter Trey Santasiere and closer Cameron Freeman.    Other highlights included a double by Noah Santy in the 2nd inning and Cole Malinowski's first ever home run, a 2-run blast in the 4th inning.   A great defensive play by Luke Kleinman in right field, throwing a runner out at home trying to score from second base on a single, put an end to a late Torrington rally.   Cole Popella contributed 2 hits in the game as part of 13 hits total for the team in the game.

Cameron Freeman (.545) and Trey Santasiere (.500) led the offense for U12 team.

Great job by these boys.

2019 9U Allstars

The EGGLL 9U All-Star Team enjoyed considerable success this post season.  The team made it all the way to the title game of the 2019 Northern Hartford County 9U Tournament, and ended the tourney as the runner up to the host team, Simsbury.  Along the way, the team posted a 3-2-1 record, scoring 53 runs in their six games.  The team batted .350 for the tourney, paced by Gabe Mainardi (.615), Jack Hallam (.611), and Declan Freeman and Caleb Kleinman (.500).

On the mound, Tim McKay struck out six batters in 2.2 innings, Alex Garcia struck out nine in 3.2 innings, and Hallam K’d 12 in 5.2.  When the defense was solid, the team was very tough to beat.  The growth the boys showed throughout the tournament was immeasurable.  This experience will only enhance their baseball skills and knowledge as they move forward in their baseball careers.

Special thanks go out to coaches Danielle Waite, Gregg Waite, Brandon Freeman, Dave Anderson, and Bill Hallam for their time and efforts with the team.

Congratulations to our 9U All-Star Team
